The ball mill is the key equipment for crushing materials after they are broken. Ball mills are suitable for grinding various ores and other materials. They are widely used in mineral processing, building materials and chemical industries. They can be divided into two types of grinding methods: dry and wet.
Working principle of Ball MillThe material is fed into the first bin of the mill evenly through the feeding device through the feeding hollow shaft spiral. The bin has a stepped lining or corrugated lining, and various specifications of steel balls are installed inside. The centrifugal force generated by the rotation of the cylinder brings the steel balls to a certain height and then falls, which produces a heavy impact and grinding effect on the material. After the material is roughly ground in the first bin, it enters the second bin through a single-layer partition plate. The bin is inlaid with a flat lining plate and contains steel balls to further grind the material. The powder is discharged through the discharging grate plate to complete the grinding operation.
Components of Ball MillThe ball mill is mainly composed of a cylinder, a grinding medium, a transmission device, a feeding device and a discharging device. These parts work together to complete the crushing and grinding of materials.
First, the main part of the ball mill is the
cylinder. The cylinder is usually welded from steel plates with a thickness of about 15~36mm, which has sufficient strength and wear resistance. At both ends of the cylinder, cast steel flanges are usually welded and tightly connected to the end cover by bolts.
Inside the cylinder, a certain amount of grinding media, usually
steel balls or ceramic balls, is installed. When the cylinder rotates, these grinding media are thrown up and thrown out along the axis of the cylinder under the action of centrifugal force, which has a strong impact and friction on the material, so that the material can be crushed and ground.
In addition, the ball mill also includes a transmission device for driving the rotation of the cylinder. The transmission device is mainly composed of a main
bearing, a
hollow shaft neck, a transmission
gear, etc. The main bearing adopts a sliding bearing with a larger diameter and a shorter length, which is one of the key components of the ball mill.
