During the steel cast parts industry, the meshing test for
large ring gears, which especially equipped on rotary kilns and ball mills is the key part to ensure their performance and safety. So what methods are usually used for testing?
1.Functional verification
Verify the meshing accuracy between the gear ring and the matching pinion (contact spots ≥60% are qualified)
Detect the tooth side clearance (usually controlled at 0.25-0.35mm/m modulus)
Ensure the smoothness of transmission (vibration value ≤0.1mm/s is excellent)
2. Quality assurance
Discover casting defects (such as tooth surface pores, shrinkage, etc.)
Avoid installation errors (axis parallelism deviation ≤0.1mm/m)
3. Safety considerations
Prevent tooth breakage accidents (contact stress must be ≤ material allowable stress)
Reduce abnormal wear (lubricating oil film thickness ≥0.5μm)
Avoid resonance risks (meshing frequency avoids the natural frequency of the equipment)
As the professional large girth gear manufacturer from China, and have already manufactured many girth gears and pinion for Mesto and Thyssenkrupp Tenfaye recommends that keeping video records and test reports throughout the experiment as a basis for quality traceability. For extra-large gear rings with diameter of more than 5m, it is recommended to conduct on-site meshing tests and use portable detection systems to complete acceptance.
