What is the function of controlling the gap between
kiln tyres?
The rotary kiln is a large-scale calcining equipment, and the kiln tyre is an important component of the rotary kiln equipment. It not only plays a supporting role, bearing the entire weight of the rotary kiln, but also plays a transmission role to keep the equipment rotating safely and stably. At the same time, the kiln tyre is also an easy-to-wear part of the rotary kiln equipment. Therefore, the gap control of the kiln tyre helps to extend the service life of the kiln tyre.
Why should we pay attention to the gap between kiln tyres of rotary kiln?
The rotary kiln is a flat, cylindrical thermal equipment placed at an angle. It works under high temperature and heavy load. Due to its inclination and the uneven temperature and thermal expansion, its deformation is a very complicated process. Viewed from a certain cross-section, it can be considered an ellipse. Its changes are characterized by continuous positive and negative and multiple repetitions.
The refractory bricks in the rotary kiln barrel rotate with the rotation of the barrel due to the action of the arch, and the curvature of its neutral surface decreases periodically with the rotation of the barrel. Its change amplitude is intensified with the increase of the lateral deformation of the cylinder.
Today's new dry rotary kilns all use loose-type floating kiln tyres. The gap between the outer diameter of the cylinder backing plate and the inner diameter of the kiln tyre is very important. If it is too large, the deformation of the cylinder will increase, and the stress of the weld between the backing plate and the rotary kiln cylinder will increase, causing fractures and shortening the service life of the fire brick; at the same time, it will also increase the relative sliding between the kiln tyre and the backing plate, aggravating the Wear; if the gap is too small, the cylinder will expand and interfere, causing necking and large deformation of the rotary kiln cylinder. No matter what kind of deformation it is, it will cause the refractory bricks to loosen, twist and break, resulting in bricks falling out of the kiln. In more severe cases, the rotary kiln barrel may crack or even break, causing damage to the entire barrel.
