1. The specifications of ball mill steel ball
Normally, the diameter of ball mill steel ball is between Φ20mm~Φ125mm, in which the small steel ball is generally 40mm and 60mm, the medium steel ball is generally 80mm, and the large steel ball is roughly 100mm or 120mm.The diameter of the steel ball of super-large ball mill is mostly between Φ130mm~Φ150mm, etc. The diameter of the steel ball of super-large ball mill is mostly between Φ130mm and Φ150mm.
2. The material of ball mill steel ball
As a “consumable” in the grinding operation, ball mill steel balls are made of different materials, and the degree of wear is naturally different. At present, the mainstream ball mill steel balls on the market mainly include cast steel balls and forged steel balls.
1) Casting steel ball
Casting steel balls are mainly low-chromium casting balls, medium-chromium casting balls and high-chromium casting balls, its hardness, impact value, crushing rate and the metallurgical organization of steel, the greater the chromium content, the better the wear resistance. Generally speaking, the greater the hardness of the steel ball its wear resistance is also greater. To improve the wear resistance of steel balls, we need to increase its hardness, but with the increase in hardness, the impact toughness of steel balls will be reduced, while the hardness of steel balls should also take into account the material and hardness of the liner plate.
2)Forged steel balls
Forged steel ball mainly has low carbon alloy steel ball, medium carbon alloy steel ball, high manganese steel ball, rare earth chrome molybdenum alloy steel ball, its impact toughness, not easy to deformation, but the crushing rate is low.

• Low carbon alloy steel balls: made of low carbon alloy ball mill steel balls have good toughness and low price, in the same kind of working conditions, its service life than the low chromium casting ball to enhance more than 1 times.
• High manganese steel balls: good toughness, good workmanship, low price, its main feature is that in the larger impact or contact stress, the surface layer will rapidly produce work hardening, its work hardening index is 5-7 times higher than other materials, wear resistance has been greatly improved.
• High chromium cast iron steel ball: is a wear-resistant material with excellent wear resistance, but the toughness is low, easy to brittle broken and expensive.
