Parts made of cast steel are steel castings. Steel castings have the same performance as iron castings, but the product quality is higher than that of cast iron. Steel castings are often encountered in daily life, but we have never paid attention to them.
Cast steel is generally smelted by open-hearth furnaces, electric arc furnaces and induction furnaces for casting processing. The characteristics of open-hearth furnaces are large capacity and scrap steel can be used as raw materials. It can accurately control the composition of steel and can melt high-quality steel and low-alloy steel. It is mostly used for the production of large steel castings with high melting quality requirements.
Steel casting performance
Steel castings are mainly divided into cast carbon steel, cast low-alloy steel, cast special steel and other products. Cast carbon steel is mainly cast steel with low alloy element content. The carbon content is less than 0.2% for cast low carbon steel, 0.2-0.5% for cast medium carbon steel, and more than 0.5% for cast high carbon steel.
From this, it can be seen that with the increase of carbon content, the strength of cast carbon steel increases, and the hardness of cast steel continues to increase. Steel castings produced by casting carbon steel have high strength and toughness, and the production cost is relatively low. They are suitable for heavy machinery parts that bear heavy loads, such as ball mill bearing bases. Steel castings can also be used to manufacture parts that bear large forces and strong impacts. They have high hardness and strong wear resistance, and can fully support the operation of mill bearings.
Application of large steel castings
1. Power station equipment
Power station equipment is a high-tech product, and its main parts are operated continuously for a long time under high load. Many parts in thermal power station and nuclear power station equipment need to withstand corrosion from high temperature and high-pressure steam, so there are very strict requirements on the reliability of parts. Steel castings can meet these requirements to the greatest extent and are widely used in power station equipment.
2. Railway locomotives and vehicles
Railway transportation is closely related to the safety of people's lives and property. Some key components of locomotives and vehicles, such as wheels, side frames, bolsters, couplers, etc., are traditional steel castings.
3. Construction, engineering machinery and other vehicles
The working conditions of construction machinery and engineering machinery are very poor, and most parts are subject to high loads or need to withstand impact wear. Therefore, a large part of them are steel castings, such as load-bearing wheels, rocker arms, track plates, etc. in large kiln mill equipment.
Due to the above characteristics of steel castings, almost all industrial sectors need to use steel castings. Large steel castings produced by steel casting manufacturers are particularly widely used in ships and vehicles,
construction machinery, engineering machinery, power station equipment,
mining machinery and metallurgical equipment, aviation and aerospace equipment, oil wells and chemical equipment.
